On 2 March 2026, Cyclevia launched a special operation in the heart of the Mafate cirque (Réunion island), a unique area inaccessible by road. Initiated, led and funded by Cyclevia, this mission involved airlifting 37 collection drums to 15 hamlets to address a worrying situation: the accumulation of waste oil over several years, posing direct risks to both health and environment.
For 15 days, residents were able to safely dispose of their waste, thanks to an unprecedented logistical operation and the strong mobilisation of stakeholders on the ground.
This operation was carried out in partnership with ADEME, Réunion National Park, the National Forestry Office and SUEZ.
Because being a producer responsibility organisation also means ensuring collection even in the most remote areas, Cyclevia reaffirms its commitment to protecting exceptional ecosystems.
