Cyclevia raises public awareness about waste oil recycling

On 13 April 2026, Cyclevia is launching a new public campaign to raise awareness about the proper disposal of waste engine oil, a hazardous waste that is still too often mismanaged.

Whilst waste sorting has now become part of everyday life, waste oil often remains an overlooked issue: nearly 4 in 10 French people do not know how to dispose of it. Yet its environmental impact is significant if released into the environment.

The campaign primarily targets individuals who change their own oil, who are often held back by practical constraints (storage, transport, etc.). To overcome these barriers, Cyclevia is adopting an educational, positive and offbeat approach, embodied by a character, Will, who humorously illustrates the tendency not to follow through with the task.

Rolled out in three phases in 2026 at key times (spring, summer, end of year), the campaign aims to establish a simple yet essential habit: after an oil change, take your oil to a recycling centre.
