In 2024, Cyclevia’s position is solid, with results proving the effectiveness of its strategy and the high implication of its teams. On the strength of its achievements, it has succeeded in building a well-structured company with a growing network of members and processes which are enabling it to exceed its objectives.
Fresh wave of mobilisation around marketers
In 2024, Cyclevia registered 431 000 tonnes of oil placed on the market, equating to almost 20 000 tonnes more than the previous year. This progression, which does not mirror the downward market trend of over recent years (approximately 2% per year), is simply the result of an increase in the number of Cyclevia’s members and of the tonnages subsequently declared.
Collection, a continuing solid momentum
This year, waste oils collection is stabilised at 240 000 tonnes to reach a rate of slightly more than 58%, still significantly higher than the 53% objective fixed for 2025. A result which initially seems slightly lower (exactly -1.76% in relation to 2023), but which is explained by the increase in the tonnages declared as being placed on the market.
Regeneration as a model
Spurred on by the implication of operators and larger volumes of waste oils, regeneration and recycling continue to progress and exceed objectives, with a rate slightly exceeding 87%. The fraction of oils regenerated outside of France has also increased from 23 to 25%, equating to a total of 48 000 tonnes. This phenomenon is explained by more attractive repurchase prices elsewhere in Europe, geographical and logistical considerations and the quality of the products obtained at the end of the process.
2024: structural balance
Following a successful start, in 2024 Cyclevia was already focusing its efforts on preparing for a more operational future. Getting ready for the switch from purely financial EPR to mixed EPR required assistance from a project team and the development of new essential expertise. A call for tenders was also sent out to all the sector’s operators with the objective of selecting the best partners for Cyclevia to collect and treat the oils entrusted to it in 2025. Thanks to its entire team and the evolution in its governance and shareholding, in 2024 the producer responsibility organisation found a structural balance, allowing it to envisage the second half of its accreditation term with ambition and confidence.
Multiplication of partnerships in the overseas territories
Always extremely active in the overseas territories, in 2024 Cyclevia adopted a prevention plan fixing a Road Map for each territory. Road maps which were rapidly implemented: a collection operation in Guadeloupe in partnership with Barbotteau Group ; signature of a partnership with TotalEnergies in Mayotte and with Vulco in Guyana for new collection points to add to the municipal recycling facility network; in Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, provision of equipment adapted to extreme climate conditions and accompaniment of the collection service provider to increase expertise...
A constant attention given to local authorities and their needs
As the preferred collection solutions for private individuals, municipal recycling facilities declared that they received almost 20 000 tonnes of waste oils in 2024 (3000 tonnes more than in 2023), representing 8.5% of the national feedstock. At the same time, the producer responsibility organisation registered 50 new members, increasing the number of local authorities under contract to 250. Since its accreditation, Cyclevia is extremely present in the field and multiplies contacts with local authorities to accompany them.
